Dr. Eva-María Suárez Büdenbender is currently in the position of Associate Professor in the Department of English and Modern Languages. She teaches Spanish language classes at introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels. Dr. Suárez Büdenbender holds a Ph.D. in Spanish from The Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA. She received her Master’s Degree in 2005 from the same institution. She also holds a Master’s Degree in History from the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, in Bochum, Germany (1997). After her graduation from Bochum, she taught English and German at language schools in Atlanta, Georgia. Since the beginning of her graduate career at Penn State, she has presented at a number of national and international conferences on topics such as language attrition, language contact, and language attitudes. Her main area of research is dialectal contact and language attitudes between Dominican immigrants in Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rican majority. In her free time, Dr. Suárez Büdenbender is an avid traveler, cook, reader, and hobby gardener.
