Christina Smith

Christina Smith joined the Shepherd University School of Music staff in the fall of 2016 as Program Assistant. She studied Mass Communications and Theater at Shepherd University, and built a career in entertainment and events management working with companies such as Folger Theatre, The Chautauqua Institution, Charlotte Ballet, the Contemporary American Theater Festival, and Forum Theater. In addition, she has worked as a live events technician with companies serving the Mid-Atlantic region. Ms. Smith brings years of experience coordinating classes, communications and events in a vibrant arts education setting, having worked for five years in arts administration at The Old Opera House in Charles Town, WV, a community arts center with extensive offerings in youth education. Ms. Smith is passionate in her support of the arts. She has served on the Executive Committee of USITT Chesapeake, a chapter of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology, and is a current member of Long Reach Long Riders (LRLR), a motorcycle charity group that raises funds for two charities that serve theatrical and entertainment professionals. LRLR supports Behind The Scenes, a charity that provides financial support to seriously ill or injured entertainment technology industry professionals and their surviving family members. LRLR also supports one of the nation’s leading industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, which helps men, women and children across the country receive lifesaving medications, health care, nutritious meals, counseling and emergency financial assistance
