Welcome!
The Chemistry Program in the Department of Natural and Physical Sciences offers several programs of study to meet the increasing demand for chemists specializing in areas such as biochemistry and environmental chemistry. In addition to preparing our majors, we also support other majors at Shepherd University such as biology, environmental studies, and nursing. Our goal is to prepare students for professional schools (medical, pharmaceutical, dental), graduate school, or entry directly into the workforce. Class and lab sizes are small to allow for interactions with faculty, group work, and hands-on experience with instrumentation.
In addition to our classes, faculty lead their own research labs, participate in committees on campus, and help out the community in events such as Seeding Your Future Conference and Mole Day.
