The Economics and Finance discipline helps to prepare students for careers in either the public or private sectors.
Economics majors find private sector jobs in the fields of banking, consulting, finance, insurance, management, marketing and sales.
A number of public sector agencies, including the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Congress, the Federal Reserve, the Federal Trade Commission, and the State Department, hire students with an Economics degree.
A Shepherd University major or minor in economics is excellent preparation for a student wishing to attend law school. It will also prepare a student for graduate studies in business, economics, international affairs, and public policy.
