Retirement Plan
Full-time employees are required to participate in a group retirement plan through TIAA. Employees must contribute 6% of their gross salary to their retirement accounts, and that is matched with a 6% contribution by the University.
Supplemental Plans
Full-time and part-time employees may participate in 403(b) and/or 457(b) supplemental retirement plans through TIAA.
Medical and Life Insurance
Full-time employees may enroll in health and life insurance plans through the West Virginia Public Employees Insurance Agency (PEIA). Please refer to PEIA’s Shopper’s Guide for more information.
Dental /Vision Insurance and Flexible Spending
Full-time employees may enroll in dental, vision and flexible spending accounts as well as other benefits through Mountaineer Flexible Benefits (FBMC). For more information, please refer to FBMC’s Benefits Enrollment Guide.
Long-Term Disability
Long-term disability insurance is available to full-time employees through The Standard.
Annual and Sick Leave
Full-time staff and 12-month faculty accrue annual and sick leave. For more details, please refer to the Staff Handbook.
Holidays
Full-time staff and 12-month faculty are paid for 13-14 holidays per year.
Annual Experience Increment Pay
Full-time employees with three or more years of service annually receive $60 for each full year of qualifying service paid in a lump sum in July.
Employee Discounts
Employee discounts are offered at the Wellness Center, Bookstore, and many campus programs and events. Full-time employees have free access to athletic events.
Tuition Waivers
Full-time employees are eligible, after six months of employment, for tuition waivers for themselves as well as tuition waivers for their spouses and dependents.
