SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Four Shepherd University accounting majors attended the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Student Leadership Conference, held November 13–15 in Cleveland, Ohio. The annual conference brought together students from across the U.S. and several countries for three days of professional development, networking, and leadership training.
Shepherd students Ellianah Lester, Maia Daugherty, Mohamed Jalloh-Koroma, and Shreya Upreti attended with sponsorship support from IMA, the organization’s Skyline Chapter, and the Shepherd University Accounting Club.
Attendee Shreya Upreti said she valued the opportunities to network with peers from different universities.
“Beyond the sessions, one of the best parts of the conference was connecting with students from other universities,” she reflected. “I left feeling motivated, inspired, and grateful to be part of a community filled with passionate young professionals.”
Maia Daugherty also highlighted the relationship-building aspect of the conference.
“IMA was a wonderful, informative, and engaging experience!” she said. “IMA gave everyone an awesome opportunity to network with professionals and students from all across America.”
Ellianah Lester emphasized the conference’s lasting impact on her academic and professional journey.
“I’m incredibly grateful to Shepherd University’s Accounting Club and IMA for this enriching experience, which inspired me to expand my contributions as a leader and will undoubtedly help me navigate my future career.”
