Shepherd University Celebrates Homecoming 2025 with Milestones, Traditions, and a Rams Victory

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WVShepherd University brought together alumni, students, faculty, and community members to celebrate Homecoming Weekend 2025. The weekend featured a full lineup of events honoring alumni achievements, highlighting the University’s proud history, and culminating in a Rams victory at Ram Stadium.

The weekend kicked off on Friday, October 24 with the Shepherd University Athletic Club’s Homecoming Party at the Jefferson Security Bank Pavilion. On Saturday, October 25, the Alumni Breakfast welcomed alumni and friends to McMurran Hall’s front lawn to reconnect with classmates and enjoy a front-row seat for the Homecoming Parade.

Shepherd University President Mary J.C. Hendrix led the Homecoming Parade down German Street, joined by Dr. Bill and Dr. Bonnie Stubblefield, whose generosity and leadership have shaped the University. They were followed by Outstanding Alumni of the Year Eric ’95 and Joy ’91 Lewis, honored for their dedication and service to Shepherd, and Ray Alvarez ’62, recognized for his decades of leadership and philanthropy. Shepherd’s Finest Under 40—Daniel Sweeney ’17, Jake Mellow ’17 & ’19, Hannah Brumbaugh ’18 & ’20, and Alyssa Roush ’19 & ’21—also joined the parade’s honorees. All award recipients were recognized again during the football game.

In addition to Shepherd’s award recipients, the parade featured dozens of Shepherd student group floats and performances. The University Dance Team and Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity earned top honors in the Student Organization Float Competition for their creativity and school spirit.

On the field, the Shepherd Rams Football Team extended their winning streak to four with a 26–23 victory over East Stroudsburg University. The Ram Band—featuring both current students and alumni—performed a special halftime show celebrating generations of Shepherd spirit.

Homecoming Weekend 2025 also marked the 50th anniversary of Shepherd’s School of Nursing, commemorated with a reception honoring nursing alumni and the school’s five decades of excellence in nursing education and community care.

Adding a fresh twist to tradition, the Shepherd University Alumni Association launched restaurant passports, offering discounts at local eateries. Alumni and friends collected stamps throughout Shepherdstown, entering drawings for local gift cards and Ram-themed prizes.
