Center of Excellence for Photobiomodulation at Shepherd University

The Center of Excellence for Photobiomodulation at Shepherd University opened its doors on March 21, 2022, with two days of informational seminars to educate health professionals, scientists, and lawmakers on photobiomodulation (PBM) as a clinical treatment for a variety of diseases and conditions that lack effective treatment today.

Located in The Wellness Center on Shepherd’s campus, the Center’s main objectives are to partner with the PBM Foundation and the Shepherd University School of Nursing to promote photobiomodulation as a mainstream treatment for chronic pain relief, deaddiction from substance abuse (like opioids), and recovery from lingering COVID-19 symptoms among others. The Center’s key goals are to perform therapeutic treatments for patients, to provide information and training in PBM treatments, to lead validation of PBM device specifications, and to perform research studies in order to improve the rigor and effectiveness of PBM treatments.

PBM services are offered at $30-35 a session, with discounts for multiple sessions, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Visit The Suzanne Shipley Wellness Center website for more information.
