Shepherd University Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship
The Shepherd University Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship is open to dependent children, spouses, grandchildren, nieces or nephews of a Shepherd graduate. Applications will be open from November 1 to April 30 of each year and review by the SUAA Board Nominations Committee for a decision during the annual June SUAA Board of Directors meeting. Recipient will be notified and information passed to the Shepherd University Foundation and Office of Financial Aid by July 1.

CRITERIA:
- First priority given to first-year student with greatest financial need (must have filed a FAFSA prior to scholarship application, which will be confirmed with the Financial Aid Office) who is the dependent child (biological, step, or adoptive), spouse, grandchild, niece or nephew of a Shepherd graduate. If no recipient is found to meet first-priority criteria, second-priority is given to any year of student regardless of financial need that is a dependent child (biological, step, or adoptive), spouse, grandchild, niece, or nephew of a Shepherd graduate.
- Each recipient shall be enrolled as a full-time (minimum of 12 semester hours) Shepherd University undergraduate student with a minimum of a 2.5 GPA on their last reported semester (confirmed via high school or college transcript), and be making reasonable progress toward degree completion.
- Applications will be accepted from November 1 to April 30 of each year, reviewed by the SUAA Board Nominations Committees, and a potential recipients recommended to the full SUAA Board of Directors at the June meeting each year for final recipient selection and approval. Recipient information will be relayed to the Shepherd University Foundation and the Shepherd University Office of Financial Aid by July 1 of each year. The Director of Alumni Affairs/Executive Director of the SUAA is responsible for written notification to the scholarship recipient.
- Award amount shall be determined by the Shepherd University Foundation (SUF) based on the return on investment of endowed funds and the SUF investment policy. This shall be awarded to one (1) student each year and shall be a one-time award to be split evenly among the fall and spring semesters of the awarded academic year.
Expectations of the Recipient:
- Attendance at the annual SUAA spring fundraiser that supports the scholarship for recognition.
- Provide information for a profile to be used for web and print recognition, including but not limited to social media posting, displaying on the SUAA webpages, official press release to recipient’s hometown news outlets, and the Shepherd University Magazine fall issues annually.
