In 2016-17, Shepherd University was awarded a Capacity-Building Grant for Undergraduate Study Abroad. The award, valued at $49, 963, provided essential funding to seed the creation and development of a full-time Study Abroad Office and professionally-certified Director; seed a strategically-balanced portfolio of products and programs; and directly support broad efforts to send first-generation, low-income students abroad. It also supported the development of faculty-led programs into non-European destinations.
The timing of the grant was in many ways ideal, accelerating the strategic efforts for internationalization begun several years before.
We gratefully acknowledge the U.S. Department of State and its administrative partner, Partners of the Americas, for the award of a Capacity-Building Grant for Undergraduate Study Abroad.
