Undergraduate Positions:
Resident Assistants – RAsResponsibilities: Support residents and foster positive living communities that promote student success. Application Information: Applications for the 2025-26 academic year will be available through the Residence Life website beginning November 2024. Interviews will occur in late January, and offers will be made to 30 student leaders in February 2025. Up to 4 RA positions are offered during the summer. Qualifications: Must have and maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and a 2.0 semester GPA. Remuneration: Room and meal plan waiver, as your individual Financial Aid package allows. RAs are encouraged to speak with Financial Aid to determine any impacts. RAs who assist with extra projects or during University breaks are paid hourly. Office AssistantsResponsibilities: Provide excellent customer service, accurate information, package management, and other office functions. Residence Hall Improvement Crew – RHICResponsibilities: Improving the condition of Shepherd University’s residence halls by painting, moving furniture, light cleaning, and more. Qualifications: Must be either enrolled in summer classes for at least 6 credit hours or enrolled for Fall 2025 classes. Prior experience preferred. Summer Office AssistantResponsibilities: Work in the main Residence Life office during the week, providing coverage and administrative support. Administrative Conference Assistants – ACAsResponsibilities: Checking in and out of conference attendees, preparing rooms, maintaining inventories, and more. Note: ACAs may choose to hold the ACA and OCA positions simultaneously. Remuneration: $11/hour, maximum of 25 hours per week. This position does not include housing or summer meals. Overnight Conference Assistants – OCAsDescription: The OCA position is a seasonal live-in position requiring weekday and weekend work. While the conference schedule is evolving, OCAs must have availability during the majority of the following weeks: June 14 – August 13. Responsibilities: Remain in and monitor the residence halls overnight during their scheduled shifts (typically 4:30pm – 8:00am on workdays) in order to promote safety and to enhance customer experience. Serve as the direct contact between conference organizations and guests utilizing the residence halls overnight, and act as the emergency contact during non-business hours. Graduate Positions:
Hall Directors – HDsResponsibilities: The Graduate Hall Director supervises the daily operations of Shepherd University’s residence halls, including the leadership of a Resident Assistant staff. The role involves proactive communication with students through individual outreach and community meetings, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed promptly and effectively. This position also requires strong collaboration with campus departments and knowledge of available resources to provide appropriate referrals and maintain a supportive residential environment. HDs are provided with an apartment, meal plan, access to free laundry, and staff/faculty parking. HDs are permitted to have a partner live with them. Candidates who are admitted and enrolled in a Shepherd University graduate program are preferred. Qualifications: Must have and maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Remuneration: (12 Month Position) $12/hour, maximum of 25 hours per week. The position includes an 18-credit waiver for Shepherd University graduate courses per academic year. Professional Positions:
Area Coordinator – ACsResponsibilities: The Area Coordinator position supervises, trains, and evaluates a team of 8 to 12 Resident Assistants to create inclusive and engaging residential communities that promote student development and success. The position requires leadership in community programming, building operations, student conduct, and administrative functions, including budgeting, housing assignments, and facilities management. The role also involves participating in an on-call rotation to support approximately 800 residential students, collaborating with campus partners, and contributing to departmental initiatives while ensuring compliance with Title IX and Clery Act requirements.
