Something for everyone at Community Music concert on December 7

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University School of Music’s Community Music program will present an ensembles concert on Wednesday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Frank Arts Center Theater.

The concert will feature performances by the Shepherd Community Orchestra, directed by Camilo Pérez-Mejía; the Shepherd Junior String Ensemble, directed by Renee Shaw Nutwell; and the Shepherd Community Recorder Ensemble, directed by Andrea Diggs.

The Shepherd Community Orchestra’s program includes Overture from “L’Amant Anonyme” by Joseph de Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges; “Serenade for Strings” by Edward Elgar; and “Danzas de Panamá” by William Grant Still.

The Junior Strings will play an arrangement by Shaw Nutwell of the French folk song “Frére Jacques,” “Fiddling A-Round” by John Caponegro, and an arrangement by William Starr of “O How Lovely is The Evening.”

Shepherd adjunct professor of flute Andrea Diggs says the “group is serious about the music and having fun and is excited to have its inaugural performance.”

In addition to its ensembles, Community Music at Shepherd offers many opportunities for children, youth, and adults who want to study and perform music, including private lessons for all ages, Early Childhood Music classes, adult group piano lessons, and summer Jazz and String Orchestra Camps.
