SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University announced Andrew Shultz as the new Director of Career Services last month.
Shultz, who began working at Shepherd in 2023 as the Academic Retention Specialist for the TRIO Student Support Services program, said he recognizes the importance of his new role.
“Career Services is a vital part of Shepherd University because it directly supports student success, career readiness, and long-term outcomes,” Shutz said. “It [career services] helps students build practical skills such as resume writing, interviewing, and job searching, while also connecting them to internships and employment opportunities that provide real-world experience.”
Shepherd University’s Career Services provides students with personalized support for career planning, including resume reviews, interview preparation, job and internship searches, and guidance about graduate school.
Shultz earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from West Virginia University.
He said he plans to focus on personalized support and practical resources for students in the coming months.
“A key objective is to enhance career readiness by equipping students with essential skills such as resume writing, interviewing, networking, and job searching,” Shultz said. “I want to increase access to internships and postgraduate employment by building strong relationships with local, regional, and national employers.”
Shultz believes that Career Services plays a key role in aligning academic programs with current industry demands by connecting faculty and employers.
