SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University and Lord Fairfax Community College have signed a 2+2 general studies transfer agreement. The agreement will allow students from LFCC to seamlessly transfer to Shepherd.

“Because of the flexibility of the Regents Bachelor of Arts (R.B.A.) degree, students from LFCC can bring in the credits earned there to create their own degree in the R.B.A. at Shepherd using the credits they have already earned as well as certifications, licenses, military, and work experience,” said Beth Thomas, Shepherd R.B.A. coordinator. “This is especially important to adult learners who may have a collection of credits that don’t fit into the mold of a traditional bachelor’s degree.”

Dr. Jay Gillispie, dean, LFCC School of Humanities and Social Sciences, said the general studies agreement is wonderful for academic explorers who want to seamlessly transfer to Shepherd when they identify the field or area in which they want to major.

“We at LFCC greatly value our relationship with Shepherd University and continue to be so appreciative of how willing the university is to work with us to help our students reach their educational and life goals,” Gillispie said.

Dr. Virginia Hicks, Shepherd’s assistant provost for academic community outreach, said Shepherd values the strong partnership it has with LFCC.

“We now have eleven 2 + 2 transfer agreements with LFCC,” Hicks said. “This agreement gives the students a clear pathway to follow toward graduation in a very timely manner without having to go extra semesters. We look forward to many more agreements with LFCC.”
