SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Program Board and Allies Gay-Straight Alliance are cosponsoring the 12th Annual Shepherd University Drag Show benefit event on Friday, March 25, at 7 p.m. in the Student Center Storer Ballroom. Since Shepherd students launched this event more than a decade ago, more than $20,000 has been raised to support the work of local nonprofit agencies.
This year’s Hollywood-themed event, “A Red Carpet Affair,” will raise funds to support Community Networks of Martinsburg, an organization that offers housing and support services to individuals in the community who are affected by HIV/AIDS. In addition, Community Networks provides a stabilization safety net, utilizing a range of services to empower the household to become self-sufficient.
The show will feature award-winning performers who will donate their talents to entertain and raise money for this cause. The event is free and open to the public, however all are encouraged to make a donation or to buy items at the silent auction. All proceeds will go directly to Community Networks.
