SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Masterworks Chorale, the Eastern Panhandle’s premiere vocal ensemble, under the direction of Visiting Choral Director Dr. Steven Grives, will have auditions for the 2022-2023 season on Monday, August 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Frank Arts Center McCoy Rehearsal Hall. Auditions are open to everyone and consist of vocal exercises. Singers are not required to prepare a piece in advance.

The vocal ensemble, made up of Shepherd students and members from the surrounding community, presents two full-length concerts per year of great masterpieces from the choral literature with soloists and an orchestra. Masterworks also performs at the Annual Holiday Gala and Family Concert in December.

Masterworks Chorale meets Monday evenings from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the Frank Arts Center McCoy Rehearsal Hall. The fall concert scheduled for Saturday, November 12, will feature Handel’s “Messiah.”

Grives has more than 20 years of experience conducting college and university choirs. Prior to coming to Shepherd, Grives served as interim director of choral activities at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; visiting choral artist at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; and visiting associate professor and director of choral ensembles at DePaul University.
