SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Editors of the Shepherd University “Anthology of Appalachian Writers: Barbara Kingsolver Volume XV” nominated six works from the volume for the Pushcart Prize. Three short stories and three poems were submitted to Pushcart.
These works include Lisa Taka Younis’s “Lambs,” Noche Gauthier’s “Hymnals,” Julie Shehan’s “Reverie,” Marc Harshman’s “Flight Behavior,” E. J. Wade’s “Framed in Chestnut and Gold Leaf,” and Kari Gunter-Seymour’s “Nighthawk.”
“The Pushcart Prize: Best of the Small Presses” anthology series, published every year since 1976, includes hundreds of presses and thousands of writers of short stories, poetry, and essays in its annual collections. Nominations are accepted between October 1 and December 1 for the following year’s volume.
“The Anthology of Appalachian Writers” is an annual publication from the Shepherd University Center for Appalachian Studies and Communities and West Virginia Center for the Book.
