Department of Music to host April 5 choir concert

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Spring Choral Concert will take place Friday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Frank Center Theater. The concert will feature the Shepherd University Chamber Singers and Camerata Soprano/Alto Choir, directed by Dr. Rachel Carlson; the Aries Tenor/Bass Choir directed by Dr. Rob Tudor; and a special guest choir, the Martinsburg High School Lady Choraliers, directed by Katie Schramm.

The Shepherd University Camerata will perform works by Gwyneth Walker, Sarah Quartel, Chiara Cozzolani, and Johannes Brahms. The Aries Tenor and Bass Choir will perform “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen, “Wanting Memories” by Ysaye Barnwell, an Estonian song by Pärt Uusberg, and several others.

The Chamber Singers will perform works by Ola Gjeilo, Claudio Monteverdi, Jocelyn Hagen, and Benjamin Britten. This performance will feature student conductors Ilynn Brennan, Matthew Gray, and Joshua Smith.

General admission is $15 for adults; $10 for Shepherd faculty, staff and alumni, senior citizens, and students 18 and under; and free to Shepherd students with a valid Rambler ID. Admission and seating is first-come, first-served and reservations are not taken. The box office opens one hour prior to performance.
