SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd debate team traveled to compete in the Randolph-Macon College Invitational Debate Tournament October 22 and 23. With a new coach, Kate Stotler, and no debate team members having ever competed in an in-person tournament, the team was ecstatic to have five students make the finals and place in their various events:
- Alonzo Perry—third place, Lincoln-Douglas Debate
- Kaelyn Corun and Chloe Bailey—fourth place, Parliamentary Debate
- Jacob Cross—sixth place, Persuasive Speaking
- Forrest Stern—sixth place, Informative Speaking
The team’s next tournament will be at the University of Lynchburg on November 5 and 6.
