How do I get a position posted online?
To post a position, you must submit a posting on People Admin 7. Here are instructions for submitting a posting, starting on page 5.
How do I hire a student employee?
Once a candidate has been selected, a hiring proposal must be submitted to Student HR in People Admin 7. Instructions on various actions can be found here, starting on page 14.
What does the student employee need to do before starting?
New student employees must complete paperwork with the Office of Student Employment. Students are not permitted to start working until their paperwork is completed and they are approved by the State of West Virginia. You will be notified via email of their approval, start date and KRONOS ID Number.
Can students have more than one job on campus?
Yes. Students can have up to three student employment positions. However, only one can be Federal Work Study. Any additional roles must be Regular Student Employment.
How many hours a week can students work?
Students can work up to 25 hours a week (total). International students can work 20 hours a week.
How are students paid?
Students are paid on the same biweekly schedule as the rest of the University through direct deposit or WV Pay Card.
What happens if a student employee resigns?
When a student resigns from their position, a separation notice must be completed; this action is not currently available in PA7, please contact the Student Employment Coordinator for the Modification/Separation form. The effective separation date should be their last date worked.
Do students have to be rehired at the beginning of every school year?
Yes. A new hiring proposal must be done at the beginning of the fall semester if you would like a student to continue working for your department. Students will be separated from all fall/spring positions upon the end of Spring semester.
