Homage Exhibit January 18th, 10 AM to 6 PM  The Homage Exhibit empowers stories of African-American experiences in the United States from the time of Slavery to the election of Barack Obama. Highlights of the collection include slave transport collars, slave bills of sale, entertainment, legal papers documenting the horrors of the slave trade, and original documents drawing attention to key figures such as Booker T. Washington, B.K. Blanche, Frederick Douglas, and various artifacts from moments in the civil rights movement. Rampulse
YOU Series Discussion January 20th, 2 PM- 4 PM Please join us for our first Stalking Awareness Month Event, a discussion of the Netflix series YOU! We are partnering with EPEC to talk about the portrayal of stalking in the media. We’ll be discussing the Netflix Original Series YOU. It is encouraged to have seen pieces of the show, however not required to attend. January 20th, 2 PM-4 PM on Zoom. Podcast Taping January 28th, 12 PM-1 PM Join us as we record a brand new episode of our podcast, The EPEC Echo: Media Musings. Featuring a deep dive into the 1999 movie 10 Things I Hate About You. The recording will last about 30 minutes and there will be time for questions immediately following the episode. Rampulse
Textured Hair Product Drive February 2nd – 23rd The Eastern Panhandle Empowerment Center (EPEC) is hosting a Textured Hair Product Drive for their clients throughout the month of February! Donation boxes can be found in the Scarborough Library and the Rams Den. Donations can also be made directly to EPEC offices.
WISE Talk: Consent February 9th, 1 PM – 2 PM Join Graduate Assistant of the Office of Social Equity, Inclusion, and Title IX and the WISE team in a discussion on the importance of consent. Rampulse
Leading with Integrity: Unpacking Power and Rising Toward Equity February 9th, 7 PM – 8 PM In such painful and complicated times, leaders are searching for ways to strengthen organizations and create healthy, inclusive, and safe communities. Tony Porter will guide participants through a transformative training that deconstructs how we’ve been taught to view gender & race, and positions participants to understand and re-evaluate power structures, develop their skills as courageous leaders, and rise toward real equity and safety for all. Invisible Systems Documentary Screening March 3rd, 6 PM – 8:30 PM Invisible Systems: My Experience with Privilege and Racism through Story and Song consists of a combination of play, lecture, and concert exploring the author’s experience of her societal position, advantages, and realizations about personal and systemic racism. Rampulse
WISE Talk: Aligning Chakras March 9th, 1 PM – 2 PM Join the WISE Team in learning about Chakras and get a new perspective on spirituality! Rampulse
Holi March 21st, 5PM – 7 PM Holi is one of the major festivals of Hindus.  It is celebrated on the day after the last full moon of the Hindu month of Phalguna. Phalguna falls between late February and early March in Western calendars. Holi usually marks the happy transition from harsh, dark winter to brighter, warmer springtime. Bonfires remain a part of Holi rituals today. However, the most striking aspect of the festival is the spraying of brightly colored powders and water in enormous public celebrations. The colors mark both Prahlada’s flickering bonfire and the bright colors associated with spring. Rampulse
Teaching Cultural Proficiency with Dialogue about the Homage Dialogue March 21st, 6 PM – 7 PM This event will offer an intellectually and socially safe learning environment that encourages educators and learners to become comfortable in their own cultural identities. We will help participants discuss Black History using culturally responsive, multicultural, and social justice lenses. Rampulse
WISE Talk: PWI Life March 23rd, 5 PM – 6 PM Join the WISE Team in discussing their experiences as students in a predominately white institution (PWI) and understanding different perspectives! Rampulse
Identity Swap March 31st, 11 AM – 3 PM Join the Multicultural Leadership Team for a transformative, interactive evening where you get to step into someone else’s shoes and live their truth!  Rampulse
Women Who Changed the World March 31st, 6:30 PM Celebrate the activists of the Reproductive Rights and Environmental Rights movement at a bonfire with SEO and SFRR!
Physical and Spiritual Bodies April 4th, 9 AM and 6 PM An original acrylic art exhibit featuring an ecopoetic discourse of the physical and spiritual power of black women. The artist, Dr. Chiquita Howard Bostic, will share her artistic and symbolic vision of resilience and power through this extraordinary exhibit. This exhibit signifies a fusion of black women’s personal and cultural ties to the earth, air, water, fire, and the void.
DEI Leadership Conference April 7th, 5 PM – 8:30 PM Diversity, equity, and inclusivity leadership strategies for empowering gender rights and equity from academic, spiritual, and international perspectives.
Chalk the Walk April 12th, 10 AM – 3 PM This month is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, come out and share your supportive message for survivors of sexual assault on our campus, and beyond.
Safe Zone Training April 12th, 2 PM – 3:30 PM Safe Zone introduces basic LGBTQ terms and concepts, helps participants develop an appreciation for the experiences of the LGBTQ people, and brings an overall awareness of LGBTQ issues. Participants will be encouraged to think about how they can create a more inclusive environment and will be prepared to provide resources to LGBTQ people. Rampulse
Earth Day April 22nd, 1 PM The Mindfulness Earth Day celebration will provide a space for us to come together as a community, acknowledge the indigenous land we are on, express our gratitude for mother earth, shed the traumas of the past two years, and set intentions moving forward to embrace our natural capacity for empathy and strengthen the resilience of our community.
