SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University has honored two students with Distinguished Graduate Student Awards for 2022.

Kristi Ashton, a Doctor of Nursing Practice student from Hedgesville received the Distinguished Graduate Student in Scholarship award, and Corey Livelsberger, a dual degree Master of Arts in college student development and administration and MBA student from Hanover, Pennsylvania, received the Distinguished Graduate Student in Professionalism award.

The Distinguished Graduate Student in Scholarship award is given for outstanding collaborative graduate work, including group research projects, and the Distinguished Graduate Student in Professionalism Award is based on outstanding professionalism/service as a graduate student.

Ashton submitted a scholarly project titled “Simulation and Self-Reflection as a Tool to Influence Pharmacological and Non-pharmacological Interventions for Nursing Home Residents with Cognitive Loss: A Pilot Study.”

Livelsberger worked on a project titled “Understanding Workplace Bullying and Harassment in Higher Education Workspaces,” laying the groundwork for future research with questions about how environment impacts students’ development, how data informs student affairs, and where he can make an impact as a professional.

“The ongoing work of Shepherd University graduate students is exemplified in the work of Kristi and Corey,” said Dr. Richard Stevens, dean, School of Graduate and Professional Studies and Faculty Affairs. “I am so pleased with the academic and professional contributions of these two worthy students who will continue to excel as alum in their chosen professions.”
