SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University Office for Diversity and Equity, Lectures and Libations committee, and Departments of Contemporary Art and Theater will present a Lectures and Libations event on Wednesday, April 27, at 6 p.m. at Lilah Restaurant, 115 E. German St., Shepherdstown.

This event, which is open to the public, will include a poetry reading and will feature Dr. Kurtis Adams, director, School of Music, playing the smooth sound of jazz on the saxophone, and special guest Quraysh Ali Lansana, poet, author, and professor. Lansana has written numerous poetry collections and a children’s book. He has been a literary teaching artist and curriculum developer for over a decade and has led workshops in prisons, public schools, and universities in more than 30 states.

“Shepherd faculty and staff as well as community members are invited to perform their spoken word artistry during this special end-of-the-semester event to honor the hard work of Shepherd faculty and staff as the university continues to create new inclusive and positive academic experiences for students during a very challenging time,” said Dr. Chiquita Howard-Bostic, associate vice president for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity.
