Students honored virtually for 73rd Annual Student Recognition Awards

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Two Shepherd University students have been awarded the Dr. Oliver S. Ikenberry Award for Human Service and are among those being honored virtually for the 73rd Annual Student Recognition Awards.

Taylor Seitzinger, a secondary education major from Frederick, Maryland, and Tyler Izydore, a sociology major from Fairmont, are this year’s Ikenberry winners. Each year the family of the former Shepherd president chooses one female and one male graduating student to be honored for exemplary human service to Shepherd as evidenced by campus leadership, community service, and overall achievement. Each will receive a $250 cash award. Ikenberry was Shepherd’s president for 21 years, from 1947-1968. The administration building, Ikenberry Hall, is named in his honor.

A number of Shepherd University students are also being recognized with Student Leadership Awards that include involvement in Student Government Association, Student Life Council, Program Board, Multicultural Student Affairs, Alternative Spring Break, Leadership for a Better World certificate program, fraternity and sorority life, community service, Accounting Club, and Rotaract.
