SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University Department of Sociology and Geography continues its monthly Criminal Justice Lecture Series about careers in criminology and criminal justice with “Global Crime Investigation: Transnational Crime, Organized Crime, and Terrorism” on Wednesday, February 27, from noon-1 p.m. in Erma Ora Byrd Hall, room 103. The event is free and open to the public.

Pablo Pelaez Perez and Pedro Assares Rodrigues, Spanish National Police, will be on campus to educate students and community members about coordinated crime enforcement between the U.S. and the European Union. This lecture will introduce the audience to crime investigation teams that investigate transnational crime, organized crime, and terrorism.

As employees at Europol, Perez and Rodrigues partner with federal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. They identify contacts and facilitate the flow of information across European representation to address crimes such as money laundering, terrorism, and human trafficking.
