SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Bonnie and Bill Stubblefield Institute for Civil Political Communications announced the 2026 Campus Civility Award recipients at Shepherd University this week.
Barbara Kandalis, Christopher Harris, and Dr. Larry Daily were chosen by a panel of advisors at the Stubblefield Institute for exemplifying the qualities of civility.
Barbara Kandalis, recipient of the staff award, was recognized for her approach to fostering inclusive and respectful dialogue across campus.
Colleagues note her ability to engage others with openness and intentionality, ensuring that a wide range of perspectives are considered in collaborative spaces.
Kandalis is the coordinator for Dual Enrollment at Shepherd University.
Christopher Harris, recipient of the student award, was recognized for his engagement with faculty and staff and his commitment to community-focused initiatives.
His work addressing youth retention in West Virginia reflects an investment in long-term civic, community, and regional impact.
Dr. Larry Daily, recipient of the faculty award, was recognized for his leadership and service to the University community.
Through his roles as professor of Psychology, department chair of Social Sciences, and president of the Faculty Senate, he has consistently demonstrated professionalism, ethical leadership, and a commitment to civil discourse.
