SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Women for Shepherd University, in conjunction with the Shepherd University Foundation, is hosting An Evening with Chef Brad Spates on Thursday, November 19 from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Historic McFarland House, 409 South Queen St., Martinsburg.
The program will feature a cooking demonstration and a holiday-themed meal with a modern, Mid-Atlantic flavor that will include a ginger crisp appetizer with melted brie and candied cranberries, an entrée of Chesapeake chicken stuffed with crabmeat with cashew parmesan risotto and roasted asparagus, and a dessert of baked hot chocolate with vanilla bean whipped cream.
Spates, a Harpers Ferry native, is the executive chef at the McFarland House. He is a former Iron Chef winner and Top Chef competitor who studied at the Culinary Institute of America and Le Cordon Bleu in Paris.
