Rams Go Abroad, and they do so in very interesting places! Where in the world will your path take you?
Thank you for visiting Shepherd Rams Abroad! The mission of the Study Abroad Office is to enhance international awareness and understanding, as well as to expand educational opportunities abroad for students from diverse backgrounds. As a liberal arts university, we provide an education that addresses the whole person and seeks to produce students who will become comfortable as citizens of the world.
The experience may enrich learning in areas of study as diverse as renaissance art and accounting, but the same is true for many other areas of study. Equally important, however, is the change that the experience will have on a student’s perspective, which will be dramatically expanded. It gives a student the opportunity to see the world from a totally different viewpoint — from outside the United States.
If you are visiting this site, we hope it means you are interested in taking your Rams Experience oversees. Many students find that studying abroad is one of the most rewarding experiences of their college career. Please look at 10 Reasons to Consider Studying Abroad to understand why it is an important aspect of fitting it into your plans while in college.
There are many options to study abroad from faculty-led trips that are typically 2 weeks to a month long; and semester or a year-long opportunities. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by all of your options. This site is designed to walk you through the various phases of planning for your study abroad program. However, you are always welcome to get in touch with us. When considering what type of study abroad program is appropriate for you, you will need to think about where you want to study and how you plan to incorporate your study abroad experience into your studies. Please check out the Getting Started Page, it will guide you through a series of questions and topics to consider when selection a program.
We hope these pages let you dream about your special destination, and we look forward to talking with you about how to realize it. Stop by my office in Library 211 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and let’s make it happen!
