The Library’s 24-Hour Room is available to currently enrolled Shepherd University students for studying both during and after regular library hours. Current faculty and staff whose offices are located in the library have Rambler card access to the 24-Hour Room as a point of entry.
- Students must have the HID Mobile Access app installed on their phone to enter the 24-Hour Room through the south-side door across from the Byrd Science Center.
- Students must email the Chief of Police in advance to obtain access to the 24-Hour Room. The student will receive a reply from HIDORIGO with instructions.
- Follow the instructions to download the HID Mobile Access app, and enter the invitation code to set up your mobile ID. Make sure your location is set to ‘always on’.
- Access permission expires at the end of the academic year and must be renewed annually.
For everyone’s safety, please do not allow anyone to follow you into the building. Each person must use their own authorized access credentials to enter.
While using the 24-Hour Room, the following rules apply:
- No Pets (except properly identified service animals)
- Reasonable quiet is expected
- Parents/caregivers must supervise the behavior of their children at all times
- No alcoholic beverages
- No tobacco products, including e-cigarettes
- No sleeping overnight
- No bathing
- Misconduct such as the following will result in expulsion from the premises:
- Foul or threatening language/gestures
- Public drunkenness
- Persistent loudness
- Fighting
- Other offensive behavior
Disruptive behavior should be reported to library staff immediately.
