Announcement about the Center for Contemporary Arts

The spring semester 2008 opening of the Center for Contemporary Arts has been delayed due to compliance issues with the West Virginia state fire code.

Issues cited by the fire marshal include:

1) a wall covering used in several parts of the building is not in compliance with state fire code because of a lacquer finish;
2) one exit door into a stairwell needs to be altered to meet state fire code; and
3) one stairwell is sized incorrectly and does not meet state fire code.

Changes are underway to fix these issues. It is anticipated that the building will be ready in three to five weeks. Please note that the CCA is closed while construction continues to complete the project.

Students who had signed up for classes this spring semester in the CCA should logon to RAIL to find out where their classes will be held or they may stop by the Department of Contemporary Art and Theater office in the Frank Center, Room A03, for details about class locations.
