SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s faculty wind trio The Shepherd Three will present a varied program of wind music Tuesday, February 25 at 8 p.m. in the Frank Center’s W.H. Shipley Recital Hall as part of the Music Salon Series.

Adjunct faculty members flutist Ann Munro, oboist Gregory Shook, and bassoonist Richard Polonchak have been performing together since 2006. The ensemble plays mostly Baroque and Classical trios and occasionally Romantic and Contemporary duos and trios for winds. The group has two pieces written especially for them by Mark Cook, director of jazz studies, and Cam Millar, adjunct music faculty. The three are also members of the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra. They are joined by Laura Renninger, dean of teaching and learning, on piano and harpsichord.

The program will open with Haydn’s “London Trio #1” followed by Handel’s “Sonata in F Major, Op. 1, No. 11” for flute, keyboard, and basso continuo featuring Munro. The trio will play an arrangement of sevenarias from Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” for flute, oboe, and bassoon and Polonchak will present Julius Fucik’s polka comique for bassoon and orchestra “Der Alte Brummbar.” The program will close with the “Trio in A Minor” by Johann Joachim Quantz.
