Music students to perform at annual Honors Recital March 23

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — A select group of Shepherd University student musicians and ensembles will perform at the annual Honors Recital Sunday, March 23 at 2:30 p.m.at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, Maryland. The recital is sponsored in part by Cinda and Spence Perry and the Shepherd University Foundation and is free and open to the public. A special invitation is offered to all Shepherd alumni and friends. A reception will follow the concert.

It is the 14th year Shepherd’s music department has honored it outstanding student performers and is the 12th at the museum. Dr. Scott Beard, dean of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education at Shepherd, established the recital, and the first one took place as part of the Reynolds Hall Recital Series. It was an additional performance opportunity for students, as well as a chance to showcase the talented musicians in the music department.

The students performing were selected and nominated from the numerous recitals, juries, and other performances at Shepherd each semester.

The program will feature solo and ensemble works for voice, piano, strings, trombone, clarinet, and percussion, encompassing works by American and European composers.

The selected performers are Jessica Adkins, voice, from Summersville; Nathan Arch, piano, from Hagerstown, Maryland; Rachel Bani, trombone, from Camp Hill, Pennsylvania; Nathan Biedzynski, percussion, from Catonsville, Maryland; Sarah Ciaccio, clarinet, from Baltimore, Maryland; Andrew Seaman, voice, from Gaithersburg, Maryland; Ryan Stewart, violin, from Hagerstown, Maryland; and the Shepherd Jazz Combo.
