SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University Department of Music will present Patricia George’s Flute Spa, a participatory master class, on Wednesday, February 28, from 3-4:30 p.m. in the Frank Center’s McCoy Rehearsal Hall. Sponsored by the Flute Pro Shop, the master class is free and open to the public.

George has presented flute spas at flute clubs throughout the United States and at the National Flute Association Convention. She has served on the faculties of the Eastman School of Music, Idaho State University, and Brigham Young University-Idaho, and currently is the flute professor at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival and the American Band College. She is the editor of Flute Talk magazine and writes the monthly column “The Teacher’s Studio.” A flute spa is designed to give some new perspectives on how to approach flute playing—including scales, body position, and practice technique.

Joan Sparks of the Flute Pro Shop will be on hand with flute music, instruments, and accessories for perusal and purchase throughout the afternoon of February 28. For more information about Patricia George’s Flute Spa or other music department events, call 304-876-5555 or visit www.shepherd.edu/music.
