SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University has a new President’s Club and special/annual giving director. Stacy McFarland of Shepherdstown, who began July 18, will manage the President’s Club, which was formerly the Leadership Circle, and will oversee special annual giving events like the Phonathon and mailings to donors.

McFarland comes to Shepherd from the Navy League Foundation, where she managed an endowed scholarship program. She has also worked at the Navy League of the United States in Arlington, Virginia, and the Kansas State University Foundation.

McFarland has a Master of Science not-for-profit management and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland, and a Bachelor of Music from James Madison University.

One of her goals as Shepherd’s new annual giving director is to involve the university in Giving Tuesday, which will take place on Nov. 29.

“We have Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and now we have Giving Tuesday,” McFarland said. “After the wonderful Thanksgiving meals and doing all our holiday shopping, we have the opportunity to give back to institutions of our choice either through time or monetary donations. So we’re looking to partner with our alums and friends to make an impact at Shepherd University on Giving Tuesday. With the continued decline of state support, our annual donors are more important than ever before.”

McFarland said she’s excited to be working to help Shepherd achieve its goals.

“I envision working very closely with our President’s Club donors to find out what makes Shepherd special to them and working with them and the university community to take Shepherd into the next 150 years,” she said.
