SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — During the month of October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Shepherd University’s Facilities Managment Department is helping raise awareness of the disease by wearing pink shirts every Friday.

Matt Ware, assistant  director of grounds and custodial services, said the gesture is meant to offer support to those affected by breast and other forms of cancer. Weiss Brothers of Hagerstown, Inc., is sponsoring the shirts, which are being worn by 50 employees in the department.

Ware said after they wore the pink shirts on Friday, October 6, they received positive feedback from other Shepherd employees who also want to join the effort in showing support on Fridays for those affected by cancer.
