Emergency Notification

Emergency Notification at Shepherd University
Welcome to the Shepherd University emergency notification site. Emergency notifications are made via the University Web site, local television and radio stations, and the Rave text-messaging system. After initial notification, up-to-the-minute information will be posted to the Web site. Please check there for the latest details.

Update to Cancellation Policy
On days when the beginning of classes is delayed due to inclement weather, modifications to that decision will be made no sooner than two hours prior to delayed opening time. (i.e. if classes are initially delayed until 10 a.m., a decision to extend the delay or close school will be made by 8 a.m.) If a decision is made to delay the opening of the institution, you should continue to monitor the information sources provided for notification until the time for an additional notification has passed. On occasion, the University may not close or delay the opening of the institution but some students may encounter conditions they consider potentially unsafe for travel. Students are expected to use their best judgment in these circumstances.

Shepherd introduces Rave Alert text-messaging system
Shepherd University has teamed-up with Rave Wireless Inc. to offer a text-messaging notification system. Emergency communications from the University, including inclement weather announcements, will be sent as a text message to those who opt into the plan. Please note that school closures and emergency announcements will be the only notices sent to participants. Additional notices may be available in the future (i.e., reminders for school and group events, etc.), but the participants will have the choice of opting into receiving these notices. Click on the "Sign Up!" link to the left to register or to read more.
