SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Kappa Delta Pi, the international education honor society, is sponsoring the Little House Storybook Carnival on Saturday, April 2, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Little House on Princess St. The event is designed to promote reading and to raise money for Relay for Life and literacy initiatives in the community.

Kappa Delta Pi students will lead children in various storybook-themed carnival games. The petting zoo, which is sponsored by a local 4-H club, will include a llama representing the “Llamas in Pajamas” storybook. Children will get to meet other storybook characters, dress up, act out stories, and do many other fun things to make their favorite books come alive. The event will also include face painting, a candy buffet, gift basket raffle, rubber duck races, bounce house, meet and greet with storybook characters, and a variety of vendors.

Admission is $5, which gives access to the bounce house and some storybook carnival games. Some activities will cost extra. There will be a $1 discount for anyone bringing used children’s books, which will be given to underprivileged children in the community.
