SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University Department of Contemporary Art and Theater will present the Contemporary Art Faculty Exhibit at two locations on campus. The exhibits will run from September 6-18.

The Scarborough Library will host an exhibit of faculty art work in the Reading Room. This exhibit is the first event in the Scarborough Society Art and Lecture Series. The Shepherd University Foundation’s Scarborough Society will host a reception on Monday, September 8 from 4-6 p.m.

“The Faculty Art Show is always eagerly anticipated by the library, as it seems to mark the true beginning of the academic year,” said Ann Watson, dean of the library. “The Reading Room is such a fantastic space for art shows, events, and receptions. This study space is heavily used by students, allowing them to be exposed to the art faculty’s creative works. The interesting art pieces add richness to the reflective atmosphere of the library.”

A second exhibit will be held in the Phaze 2 Gallery at the Center for Contemporary Arts II. The opening reception for this exhibit will be held Monday, September 8 from 5-7 p.m.

Artists exhibiting work include Christian Benefiel, Evan Boggess, Rick Bruner, Mark Burrier, collabAttack, Sonya Evanisko, Robert Farmer, Kristin Kaineg, Shannon McCarthy, Mike Mendez, David Modler, Ben Schonberger, Rhonda Smith, and Stephanie Robbins Thulin.

The exhibits and receptions are free and open to the public.
