Testing Updates and Daily Health Checks

DATE: August 22, 2020

Dear Students,

TESTING UPDATES:

COVID-19 tests taken on Shepherd University’s campus August 15-19 will have results returned within five days, according to the lab AIT. The test used at Shepherd University was chosen and coordinated by the Jefferson County Health Department. It is one that, according to the CDC, is “typically highly accurate and does not need to be repeated.”

If you do not receive a call from the Shepherd University Health Center OR the Jefferson County Health Department five days following your test, you can be reasonably certain you are negative. However, if you want to know definitively that you are negative, you can call the Shepherd University Health Center at 304/876-5161 or email HealthCenter@rams.shepherd.edu. Please be patient however – the Health Center is extremely busy!

OFF CAMPUS TESTING:

Students who did not get tested on Shepherd’s campus are required to do the following:

  1. Complete the form Off Campus COVID-19 Testing and upload proof that you have been tested (this can be done by taking a photo of your lab slip or order and upload).
  2. As soon as you receive your results, you must email those results to healthcenter@rams.shepherd.edu

Through this form you will providing information if you are well, if you become symptomatic, or if you test positive for COVID-19. Completion of this form DAILY is mandatory. Students who will be 100% online will not have to complete the form unless you plan to visit campus for any reason.  You are required to take your own temperature each day before coming to campus or before leaving your residence hall.
