Tree Planting; Saturday, Oct. 9, 10 am
Tabler Farm hosted its first tree planting for the newly established Native Food Forest. A food forest is a stand of trees that are intentionally planted for food consumption. The design is intended to mimic a natural forest but be utilized for agricultural production. This forest in particular will only use native tree species to demonstrate the vast array of native tree’s in the region which can be grown for food production. A second planting is expected during spring of 2022.
Shepherd University Agricultural Innovation Center Open House; Saturday, Oct. 30, 10 am – 2 pm
The Shepherd University Agricultural Innovation Center continued it’s annual open house tradition this fall. The open house consisted of site tours, live music, a kids zone, student activities, free food, and a farm sale with produce and products grown at Shepherd Farm.
