As we plan for the spring 2021 semester, enclosed is information regarding the amended academic calendar that will assist you in planning for next semester.
Academic Calendar: It is unlikely that the pandemic situation will have completely cleared by the start of the spring semester. The following calendar amendment endorsed by the Faculty Senate, Academic Leadership Council, and ELT offers a generous time between the last students on campus (November 24th) and our return, thereby allowing us the flexibility to plan, to clean, and to prepare the campus. You can find the detailed updates on the academic calendar page for the spring semester. To summarize the changes:
- The spring term will be delayed by one week, and will start on Tuesday, January 19th.
- All other deadlines prior to spring break will move forward by a week.
- Elimination of spring break. The first four days of the originally scheduled Spring Break will be cancelled. Classes will be held on those days to make up for the delayed start to the semester and to reduce high-risk travel/vacations; however, there will be no classes on Friday, March 19th, to create a three-day weekend.
- The rest of the semester post spring-break will proceed as previously published.
With appreciation for all you’re doing as we lean forward to the future,
Dr. Scott Beard
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
