As a victim of sexual violence it is important to know that you are not alone. There are resources both on and off campus to help you through this difficult time. It is your choice to use the resources that feel the most helpful to you and to address the needs you want to address.

RAINN (Rape, Abuse and Incest National network) Online Hotline
The Online Hotline provides live, secure, anonymous crisis support for victims of sexual violence, their friends, and families over RAINN’s website. The Online Hotline is free of charge and is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week!

If you need support but are unsure if you want to make a formal report (i.e.; filing a complaint with the Title IX coordinator or pursuing charges through the Office of Student Conduct there are confidential resources available to you).

These resources cannot guarantee complete confidentiality, however maintaining your privacy while providing you the support you need and request will be a top priority. They will be required to report if the sexual harassment includes acts of physical or sexual violence. They will be required to report the name of the alleged perpetrator if provided by you. In very rare cases your name may be shared with a limited number of SU professionals if required under state and federal regulations. All steps will be taken to minimize the disclosure of this information.

Sexual Harassment Policy and Action Team
These team members are trained to listen and to advise you of the informal and formal resolution processes at Shepherd University. Team members also are trained to reserve judgment and to maintain sensitivity to the issue of sexual harassment. Even if you decide not to engage either in the informal or formal resolution processes, a copy of the complaint will be maintained in the office of the Title IX Coordinator.
