To all employees:
Below is information about several important Shepherd University initiatives related to COVID-19. We are excited to welcome employees and students back to campus and want to do that as safely as possible. These measures will help to ensure everyone’s safety; it is important that employees comply with them.
- Return to Work Guidelines
As part of our reopening plans, Return to Work Guidelines have been created. They can be found here. Vice Presidents/Executive Officers are working with their departments to gradually return employees to campus. Although most administrative offices will open the week of July 1st, some employees will continue to work from home, either continuously or intermittently, throughout the summer and going forward – at the direction and with the approval of the employee’s supervisor and Vice President
- Employee Health Screening Form
Employees are required daily to attest to their health condition by logging in each morning and completing a Health Screening Form. The form and instructions can be found at Employee Health Screening Form . The Health Screening Form must be completed by employees each day either before coming to work or within the first half hour of being on campus. As part of the screening process, employees are required to take their temperature every morning. Employees who do not have thermometers at their homes may have their temperature taken after they arrive on campus at either the Wellness Center or the Student Health Center.
- Reminder about Temporary Personnel Policy
Please continue to refer to the Temporary Policies Relating to COVID-19 Safety Operations for Shepherd University Personnel, a document that was distributed on May 21, 2020. Of particular note: Face coverings (masks) must be worn on campus.
- ADA Accommodation Requests
Employees who have a health condition that compromises their ability to return to campus to carry out their job responsibilities should complete the ADA accommodation request form and have their physician complete the accompanying medical form prior to submitting those materials to HR. This same process is to be followed in situations where employees have a household family member with a health condition that causes a compromised immune system. In the spring, the ADA accommodation request form was used without supporting medical documentation as a temporary modification of our regular policies. The accommodations that were made at that time will expire June 30, 2020.
- COVID-19 Testing
In coordination with the National Guard, all Shepherd University faculty, staff, and students will be tested for COVID-19. Testing will begin over the summer and several sessions will be scheduled and orchestrated by HR. More information about testing will be shared in the coming weeks.
- Holiday Schedule
Adjustments are being made to the academic calendar. As one of those adjustments, the University is anticipating the potential of reallocating the Labor Day Holiday to a different day and using September 7, 2020 as an instructional day.
- Academic Instruction Fall 2020
Please click here for information regarding academic instruction for fall 2020. Included are important details on adjustments to the academic calendar, course schedule and modality adjustments and guidelines for final exams.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during this challenging time. Compliance with our new operational guidelines will allow us to maintain institutional safety – while we wait for the COVID-19 vaccine. Thank you!
