The Performing Arts Series at Shepherd has been a part of student life programming for more than 35 years, focusing on sharing multicultural art forms and stories with our students and community. Funded with the support of student activity fees, all of PASS’s programs are free to full-time students and priced extremely affordably for our local community members. Artistic excellence, diversity, and opportunities for learning are at the heart of our mission. Our multicultural, interdisciplinary programs complement Shepherd’s curriculum and offer opportunities for learning and growth outside the classroom. Through attending our programs, community members are drawn into dialogues and come to a better understanding of themselves and one another.
PASS partners with the Center for Appalachian Studies and Communities each year to sponsor the annual Appalachian Heritage Festival and Appalachian Writer-in-Residence project. In September 2022, we will be celebating the work of Barbara Kingsolver. See the schedule of events here: https://www.shepherd.edu/ahwirweb/kingsolver/schedule
