SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Aly Nazarok, an adjunct faculty member at Shepherd University, has been awarded a $5,000 Youth and Education Grant from the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation to support Shepherd’s Debate and Forensics Team.
The money from this grant will help cover travel costs for the team this season. Participation and networking during these regional tournaments will also help promote the debate competition Shepherd is hosting this spring, April 4-5.
Nazarok is excited to put the funding from this grant to good use.
“We have been fundraising all year long to ensure our ability to attend and compete in these tournaments,” Nazarok explained. “With these funds [from the grant], the students are able to put more time and effort into their work to speak on and further research topics that are important to them.”
The Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation (EWVCF) was established in 1995 and awards over $1 million in grants and scholarships annually. With over 280 endowed funds and assets of just over $35 million, EWVCF is one of the largest grantmaking organizations serving the Eastern Panhandle.
