Nazarok, who serves as the Student Government Association executive board parliamentarian and a leader on the student advisory board of the Bonnie and Bill Stubblefield Institute for Civil Political Communications at Shepherd University, was selected for her meaningful philanthropic work on- and off-campus. Nazarok recently chaired the Glow for a Cause fun run to raise money for Shepherd’s Make-A-Wish child and is the embodiment of WISH’s commitment to impact and enhance the Shepherd community.

“I am so honored to receive this award from a giving circle of such amazing women,” said Nazarok. “I hope to follow this group’s mission throughout my life and support communities in the ways I was able to learn they do.”

The Courage to Inspire, Strength to Empower award was created in 2021 to recognize outstanding female student leaders whose service and commitment to excellence benefit and inspire members of the Shepherd Ram family. Danielle Stephenson, a graduate student from Charles Town, was the inaugural recipient last spring.

WISH, a women’s giving circle sponsored by the Shepherd University Foundation, was created to inspire, educate, and develop the potential of women’s philanthropy through high-impact grant-making. Members’ $500 annual contribution is divided into two grant pools—one for Shepherd learning programs and one for community nonprofits. A one woman, one vote process determines the grant recipients in each category.

WISH membership for 2022 is being accepted until December 31. To learn more about how to become a member and to read about Nazarok’s achievements, visit
