Shepherd Jazz Festival Concert

The Shepherd University Jazz Festival is an educational experience open to middle school and high school jazz ensembles of any size. Performing ensembles receive an individual clinic with our one of our adjudicators in addition to written and recorded comments. There will also be jazz clinics for individual instruments and master classes in jazz improvisation.

Thursday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m.
Pianist Lynne Mackey combines masterful technique with extraordinary expressiveness to present an entertaining and eclectic mix of repertoire and styles from around the globe, with composers ranging from Chopin, Ravel and Rachmaninoff, to Albeniz, Cowell, Tan Dun and more. W. H. Shipley Recital Hall. Free and open to the public.

Thursday, March 26, at 7:30 pm
Shepherd University adjunct faculty, bassist Robin Rhodes and friends will play selections from AfroHouse’s house concert experimentation, featuring twenty-fifth Century Afrofuturistic music that is disruptive, exuberant, innovative, emergent, and transformative, with beats, noise, and lush harmonies. W. H. Shipley Recital Hall. Free and open to the public.

Shepherd Salon Series—State of American Trombone Music

Shepherd adjunct trombone professor James Martin and Shepherd faculty pianist Dr. Julianna Martin-Hayward “The State of American Trombone Music” featuring important and lesser known American trombone works by contemporary composers Eric Ewazen, Anthony Barfield, Anthony Plog and Frank Gulino. Choral Concert

Come out for jazz and java in our makeshift coffee house at the Marinoff Theater. An evening of hot coffee and even HOTTER jazz with a mix of our jazz ensemble and jazz combos under the direction of Dr. Kurtis Adams and Kevin Pace. Masterworks Chorale

Shepherd Community Orchestra and Youth Chorus
