As we begin a new semester and a new year – in the midst of an unprecedented pandemic, we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Mandatory testing prior to returning to campus, together with surveillance testing and the distribution of the vaccine, combined with continual stringent anti-viral cleaning – collectively give us a sense of optimism about our resilience and the future. Your safety remains our top concern, and Shepherd has spared no expense in ensuring a healthy environment. The partnership of our Campus Health Task Force with the Jefferson County Health Department has been critical to our success. Equally important are the tireless efforts of our Fastener Lab creating PPE and protective barriers to support our ability to sustain the integrity and quality of education for the next generation of professional leaders and model citizens. Please know that this pandemic has not slowed us down in the pursuit of new initiatives and opportunities for our campus community. During this year, you will begin to see the transformation of a portion of our campus with the development of the East Campus Loop Project. Campus and Community Advisory Committees have been formed to help guide the Glenmark Development Team – and the final product will be exciting and beneficial for all stakeholders. Thank you for your steadfast commitment to the pursuit of excellence, your dedication to our students, and your belief in a better future through education.
With best wishes for the new year,
Mary J.C. Hendrix, Ph.D.
