C-SPAN3 to air Antietam Cemetery commemorative lecture on September 23

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — C-SPAN3 will broadcast a lecture sponsored by the National Park Service, Shepherd University, and Eastern National that was part of a lecture series commemorating the 150th anniversary of Antietam National Cemetery.

Dr. Edward Linenthal’s lecture titled “Sacred Ground: Americans and Their Battlefields: An Illustrated Lecture” will be broadcast Saturday, September 23, at 8:55 p.m. on C-SPAN3 American History TV. Linenthal’s lecture took place on August 26 in Shepherd’s Erma Ora Byrd Hall auditorium and was part of a series sponsored by the George Tyler Moore Center for the Study of the Civil War, the Office of Academic Affairs, and the College of Arts and Humanities.

Linenthal is a history professor at Indiana University and author of “Sacred Ground: Americans and Their Battlefields,” “Preserving Memory: The Struggle to Create America’s Holocaust Museum,” and “The Unfinished Bombing: Oklahoma City in American Memory.”
