FICTION
WRITERS' CONFERENCE
JUNE 4, 5, 6, 2004
"Writing from the Heart"
In the shade of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Along the banks of the Potomac River. On the campus of a small fine arts college. In a setting of great beauty and cultural depth. Conference attendees will spend a weekend together outside ordinary time, in a program designed to stimulate both mind and heart, in a voyage of enlightenment, discovery, and relaxation. All conference workshops will be led by recognized, award-wining writers who are committed to the individual voice of each participant. Workshops and seminars share a common goal: to offer participants the opportunity to interact with published authors and professional editors and agents in an environment that provides extensive insight into the writing experience. The conference is designed for all ranges of interest and experience, from the beginner to the advanced writer. There will be specialized workshops and panel discussions on the creative process, publishing, and performance. Topics include: Voice, Goals/Motivation/Conflict, Characterization, Synopsis Writing, Agent and Editor Woes, Self-promotion, Manuscript Preparation, Unblocking Writer's Block, Point of View, and Plotting. Come. Join with Keynote Speakers Nora Roberts, Mary
Jo Putney, Michael Dirda, and other authors. Share and learn the joys
and sorrows, the art and craft of writing fiction. |
